IDENTIGENE/Sorenson Genomics holds and maintains accreditations for DNA Tests and Relationship Analysis. Our laboratory undergoes regular evaluations by independent auditors to ensure that your relationship test results comply with accepted standards and practices required by most courts, child support or child welfare agencies, U.S. embassies, the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and other legal entities.

These DNA testing accreditations apply to specific DNA testing services as outlined below. However, IDENTIGENE/Sorenson Genomics applies these same standards for laboratory processes and results reporting in all relationship cases. This means that you get the same accuracy and reliability with your personal DNA test for paternity as our DNA tests for legal purposes. We provide the most reliable results commercially available for paternity, maternity, grandparentage testing, siblingship testing, and aunt or uncle testing.

This accreditation applies only to relationship or paternity test cases where the participant identity is verified and collection of samples is verified by an independent third party making the case legally admissible in court. Sorenson Genomics has been member in good standing with the AABB since 2003.

In addition to laboratory accreditations for DNA paternity testing, IDENTIGENE also participates in proficiency testing programs designed to improve standards and practices among genetic testing laboratories and businesses:

Proficiency Testing. IDENTIGENE uses the College of American Pathologists proficiency testing services for relationship testing verification and DNA genotyping.

NIST Traceability. IDENTIGENE uses NIST Standard Reference Materials for DNA Analysis to ensure consistent results.


IDENTIGENE is an accredited member with A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau of Utah and participates in the BBB Online Reliability program.


DNA Paternity Test: Legal Paternity Tests

Legal paternity tests require accurate test results as well as proof of identity for each person participating in the DNA tests. For legal cases, IDENTIGENE tracks your DNA samples from the moment they are collected at one of our paternity test collection sites until the time they arrive in our DNA paternity testing laboratory. Following this chain-of-custody procedure outlined in the accreditation guidelines offers proof of paternity (or non-paternity) as well as proof of identity to a social worker, judge, embassy or other government official.
