DNA does not follow modern day political borders. For example, someone living in modern day Poland will have a genetic makeup that includes European and East Asian DNA. While it's not currently possible to identify "Polish DNA", Ancestry By DNA ™ can differentiate between major geographic regions such as European (which includes modern-day Europe and some Middle Eastern countries) or East Asian (which includes Russia, China and Japan). Of course, someone living in modern day Austria is likely to have an MLE percentage in both groups.
