Identigene Legal Collection


Trust plays a huge part in paternity testing. We receive hundreds of calls questioning sample integrity. If the alleged father swabs without the mother watching, there is a chance the mother will have doubts. Sometimes the best solution is a legal test. Identigene arranges a collector to witness the swabbing of all involved parties; this way everyone knows the swabs belong to the right person.

Want to know the steps for legal testing? It sounds more complicated than it is. Trust us!

1. Purchase a DNA paternity test kit from your local drugstore: CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens or Walmart.

2. Call Identigene at 1-(888) 404-GENE.

3. Pay for the lab fee and collection fee with a major credit card or money order.

4. Agree upon a convenient place and time to meet with an Identigene sample collector. This person will witness the DNA collection, help you fill out appropriate paperwork, verify photo identification and mail in the DNA specimens.

  2. How much is it for 2 kids to get a legal DNA test done

      The testing fee for a court-admissible DNA test is $399+ the additional child fee which is $89.   4. I sent in my test on Friday morning but I DID NOT put my email on there but the results are suppose to be in today, is there any way I can get my email on there or can they call me with results??? PLEASE HELP

    • Hi Brittany,
      We do not do outbound calls for results, however you are welcome to call in and check your test status. Upon verifying your case password, we would be more than happy to assist you with your test results or case information. You can also add an email address to your case by calling in and filling out a Report Release Form that our client support can email, fax or mail you. With completing the form and sending in a copy or image of your ID, you can add your email address and access your report online when it becomes available. If you provided a mailing address on your order form, we can mail one copy (free of charge) to the address provided. Any additional copies will cost $35. I hope this helps in answering your question.   6. If a legal DNA test has been taken through identigene, and the other party wishes to make claims that the test is would this be handled.

      Thank you for your patience! Legal DNA testing requires that all parties go to a designated collection site so that a Chain of Custody can be established. Chain of Custody is a legal process used to maintain and document the chronological history of the samples (who has control of the samples at what time). You are more than welcome to call us for these Chain of Custody forms we have on file. We are also a highly-accredited laboratory, with a 100% accuracy rate. If the other party wishes to claim against their Legal DNA test results, we do have scientists able to testify in court (entails a fee).

  7. We swabbed the child and alleged fathers mouth. The results were 0.00%. How accurate is this because the childs mother is saying the test was wrong.

      Our test is 100% accurate. We are a highly accredited lab and work very hard to make sure we have safeguards to make this process 100% accurate. The one aspect that we can’t control is that each participant is honest in their collection and that there was no tampering with samples before it reaches our lab. As long as the samples come from each of the intended participants, your test will be 100% accurate.   8. I did a legal test and it is on 3rd day of testing. How many days of testing do y’all do before a person would have to send more samples?

      We give results in 2 Business Days so there may be a chance that the lab needs additional samples or that the ones sent in originally were contaminated or didn’t have enough DNA. If that happens, we would have contacted you.   10. Is there no possibility of gaining physical documentations from Identigene? What would be the point if u cant prove it unless around a computer with internet?

      Results are available two business days after our laboratory receives the samples. The delivery time will vary depending on which mail carrier and method you choose.
