Legal Paternity Testing - What is it?

Legal paternity test results are often needed for use in court. Divorce, child custody, child support, estate settlement and inheritance cases all require court admissible Legal Paternity Test Results.

Legal paternity tests with court admissible results requires proof of identity for each person participating in the legal paternity test. A DNA collector will witness the collection of the samples and verify the identity of each person participating in the legal paternity test. Following the following chain-of custody procedure outlined in the accreditation guidelines, IDENTIGENE tracts your DNA samples from collection until they arrive in our DNA testing laboratory.

DNA Collection Network

IDENTIGENE partners with a nationwide network of DNA specimen collectors. The DNA collector documents proof of identity for each person in the DNA paternity test using photographs, driver's licenses, birth certificates, or passports, on the DNA Chain-of-Custody form. The collector witnesses the DNA sample collection from each paternity test participant. The collector seals the DNA specimens and Chain-of-Custody paperwork in a tamper-proof envelope and sends it directly to our DNA paternity testing laboratory. This process tracks your samples from the time of collection all the way through DNA paternity testing.
