Prenatal Paternity Testing

DNA Prenatal Paternity Test $449
Includes 1 Possible Father, 1 Child (Amnio/CVS Sample), and 1 Biological Mother (required). Results in 5 business days from the time that samples arrive at the laboratory.

A prenatal paternity test is available as early as 10-12 weeks. In some cases, expectant mothers undergo a prenatal sample procedure, such as amniocentesis or CVS (chorionic villus sampling) when consulting their physician or genetic counselor. Our DNA paternity testing lab can use the same samples obtained from these procedures for early DNA paternity testing. A paternity test with prenatal samples takes approximately 5 business days.

  1. Purchase a Prenatal Paternity Test

Available online, or call 1-888-404-GENE (888-404-4363) to place your order.

  2. Collect the Prenatal DNA Sample

Arrange for collection of the prenatal sample with your physician or a genetic counselor. A list of genetic counselors can be found here: www.nsgc.org/resourcelink.cfm

  3. Collect the Parents DNA Samples

Collect DNA samples from the mother and the alleged father with the cheek swabs provided by IDENTIGENE. Instructions for using IDENTIGENE's DNA Paternity Test cheek swabs are included.

  4. Send the DNA Samples to IDENTIGENE

Send all the samples and completed forms to our DNA Paternity Testing Lab using the pre-paid express envelope.

Choose how your paternity test results are reported. Access your DNA paternity test results online using the email address and results password you provided on the order form. You can also access your paternity test results over the phone (password required) and/or have a hard copy of the paternity test results mailed directly to you, an attorney, court officer or social worker.

NOTE: Because prenatal sample collection poses significant risk to both mother and baby, IDENTIGENE does not recommend these procedures when paternity is the only question. Please consult your physician or genetic counselor for professional advice regarding prenatal sample collection.

Legal Paternity Tests - Court-Admissible Paternity Test Results

Prenatal samples can also be used in DNA paternity tests for legal purposes. The physician collects the prenatal sample and sends the sample directly to the laboratory using our Chain-of-Custody Form for prenatal samples. DNA samples from mother and alleged father are collected at one of our nationwide collection sites. See our Legal Paternity Testing page for more information regarding legal paternity tests.

questions?

  • Q. How accurate are the DNA paternity test results?
  • A. Identigene paternity tests are the most reliable results available and are extremely accurate. When collected properly, Identigene results can be used in court for divorce, child support, inheritance or even criminal cases (forensics). Typically, test results probabilities are greater than 99.99%.

An accredited laboratory, Identigene adheres to strict scientific guidelines for every test. Most test types can be upgraded to a 'legal test' for use in court (see more information about legal testing).
