PCR Electropherogram
A final breakthrough in DNA paternity testing occurred with the development of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing. Developed in the 1980s, PCR testing allows the laboratory to isolate sections of DNA from any cell and make billions of copies for analysis. With PCR testing, a simple cheek swab provides enough DNA for the laboratory to analyze and results can be provided very quickly.
PCR is the preferred method of DNA Paternity Testing today and is the primary method employed by Identigene DNA laboratory geneticists. Discover the details of paternity testing by PCR in the DNA Testing Process section.
