genotype

Definition:

A genotype is list of genes present at a partciular DNA location (locus). In a paternity test, the genotype is a list of markers or alleles for up to 15 DNA locations. Paternity testing genotypes are usually pairs of numbers like '8,10' or '17,22.1.'

Examples:

For blood types, a person who is type 'AB' has the genotype 'AB' while a person with a blood type of 'A' may have a genotype of either 'AA' or 'AO.'
