Identigene DNA Paternity Test Kit Fact Sheet

• Identigene first began selling the Identigene DNA Paternity Test Kit in retail locations on November 26, 2007 in Rite Aid stores in California, Oregon and Washington. Rite Aid expanded to locations nationwide in March 2008, followed soon thereafter by CVS/pharmacy, Walgreens and numerous other retailers.

• The Identigene kit may be used for personal or for legal purposes. Consumers who wish to use the results for legal proceedings may contact Identigene customer service to coordinate specific specimen collection and chain-of-custody procedures with a third-party. While the specimen collection process and handling is different for legal testing, the laboratory analysis and reporting for Identigene DNA testing is the same for both legal and personal purposes.
• Identigene offers results with 100 percent accuracy and routinely provides test results with probabilities of paternity greater than 99.99 percent. A pioneer in DNA family relationship testing since 1993, Identigene is accredited by AABB and certified by the New York State Department of Health for paternity testing.
• Suggested retail price for an Identigene DNA Paternity Test Kit is $29.99.The laboratory and processing fee for the personal test is $129. The laboratory and processing fee for test results for legal proceedings is $329. Results are typically available within 2 days from the time samples arrive at the laboratory.
  

New York Retail DNA Paternity Test Information

• In New York, unlike other states, paternity tests are required to have a physician’s or attorney’s authorization, as well as a witness to the sample collection process.
• Identigene complies with all New York state regulations and now offers the paternity test kit at retail locations across the state.
• Identigene’s process of direct-to-consumer DNA paternity testing in New York follows the same process used for court admissible testing in New York and other states. After customers purchase the collection kit from their local pharmacy, they take the provided authorization form to a doctor or attorney to receive an authorization signature. Then a third-party witnesses the sample collection process, verifying patient identity and completing the appropriate forms that are included in each retail kit. The witness then sends the sample and paperwork directly to Identigene, where the sample is processed and results are made available to the customer within two business days. Members of the Identigene client support team are also available to direct customers to a physician or attorney who can help in this process.
• Suggested retail price for the Identigene DNA Paternity Test Kit is $29.99. The complete service, which includes the laboratory fee, physician authorization and collection witness fee, will cost New York customers approximately $300, hundreds of dollars less than the traditional paternity testing process.
