- Q. Do I have to use all three swabs for each person?
- A. Yes. By providing three (3) swabs for each person to the laboratory, we reduce the chance of needing a new collection.
Each paternity test participant should use all three (3) swabs and place the swabs in the specimen envelope provided, noting the person's name, date of birth, race description, and their relationship to the other participants. Each envelope needs a consent signature that matches the name provided for each of the paternity test participants, and/or a legal guardian consent signature for anyone under age 18.
DNA is uniquely different for each person and some DNA is harder to extract than others. Generally, sending three (3) swabs gives us enough DNA to work with for any person in order to complete a DNA analysis.
