Behind every paternity test, or other DNA testing service, there is a story. Whatever your situation, Identigene wants to help. Sometimes, it helps to hear from others who have used a DNA Paternity Test and learn from their experiences. If you've used the Identigene DNA Paternity Test Kit or other DNA testing service, please share your story with us.

Two men & one baby... Who is the father?

Two men & one baby. Who is the father? I learned I was pregnant on April 3, 2009. I had recently started a relationship with someone that I had known for years on March 14. Before I entered a relationship with him, I was involved with someone else. We were involved sexually just days before...TWO days before. I believed that my boyfriend was the father due to some other things. No one wanted a DNA test performed after the child was born because my boyfriend claimed the baby as his own.

My baby was born Nov. 2009 and although neither man was there at the time of the birth, they both were there the same day my son was born. We named him after my boyfriend. We were concerned about where my baby got his color from considering the fact that he basically looked mixed with white & my boyfriend & his entire family has a dark complexion even though their baby pictures looked almost IDENTICAL!

As time passed, a few people started stating that my baby looked like the other guy\'s 11 month old son & even the other guy. We knew right then that it was time to get a DNA test. We took the test (me, the boyfriend, and my son) and the results came back 7 days after mailing the samples...stating that my ex-boyfriend was not my son\'s father.

We couldn not really be mad because the 3 of us knew the situation before my son was even born. Even though we already knew the possibilities, it hurt us all. My son is 8 months old & currently knows my ex-boyfriend as his father. It hurts me to my soul to know that my son has to warm up to a \'new\' daddy all over again and that he shares the same exact name with a man who has shown not to be his father.

My son\'s biological father wants to do a test with Identigene just to have it in black & white that he IS actually my son\'s father. I do not blame him for this although I know its a waste of time & money, but the kit is already on its way for testing. I can not wait to get these results back so we can move on with our lives.

The other man is already stepping up even though he has not gotten his results back yet, but I am thankful that my son has TWO men in his life that will love him unconditionally for the rest of his life. He has two loving families as far as his father\'s side & the thought of this alones helps me getting through this situation. Thank you Identigene!
